the wishing tree

November 25th, 2008

While spending my morning researching my upcoming trip to Paris, I have gone to many of my favorite blogs to see if they have posts on FRANCE or PARIS.  Naturally, I stopped at Pia Jane Bijkerk’s blog...which, of course, did not disappoint.  If not a potential stop on my upcoming itinerary, one post definitely was a stop on an inspirational path….The Wishing Tree is such a romantic notion and i was sure to stop, and make a wish….check out the entire enchanting post here...and be sure to stop and make a wish too!

Paris, here i come…but YOUR help is necessary first!

November 23rd, 2008

I have decided not to wait as long as i had originally planned to go to France.  I mean, the rationale in waiting two years was kind of lame anyhow. It was an arbitrary date I had set so that I would not feel irresponsible leaving my precious new store alone for any extended time AS WELL as the fact that said store, no matter how precious, does not exactly pay me a whole lot right now…but alas, I shall remove these self-imposed restrictions and allow the greatest inspiration into my life as soon as possible!

I am targeting going now in January or February 2009, basically in like, 6-8 weeks!  I have A LOT of planning to do, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you have been to Paris, or anywhere in France for that matter and have some tips for places I must not forget to see I beg of you to tell me now!  I am trying to plan my trip out so as to maximize my time there, not limit myself to Paris alone, although, if I never left Paris, I highly doubt I would feel very limited.

So with that, please, share with me your French experiences!  I am dying to hear from you!

November 12th, 2008

Once upon a time… from Capucha on Vimeo.

(via TAMMY, thank you !!!)

nothing more adorable than a wide eyed baby girl speaking french!  my mom had my brothers and I in Spanish lessons with a lady down the street when i was like 3 years old, but it didn’t stick, surely if it had been french….well, who know!

so, i have not yet been to babycakes in NYC. although, i think i may have to put it on the list for my next trip in january. check it out here.

sightseeing in Paris outfit - part deux

October 10th, 2008

I hope to make my France trip a two-week trip with most of my time in Paris and a few excursions to the country as well.  For this sightseeing-intensive trip, I will need to find some really good multi-tasking items. A leather messenger bag can transition from day to night if need be and will feel a bit more sophisticated than any of my bicycle messenger bags would and ultimately I think a messenger is necessary for travel and sophistication is necessary for Paris.

The other key would be to find pieces that are comfortable, again with all of the walking around and the  intensity of a full day challenging myself to communicate in a foreign language (that I am still learning) and understanding the lay of the land so that the most can be made of my time…comfort is key!  However, comfort should not mean a sacrifice to style or quality.
